Code of Conduct


 
1. PURPOSE of a religious web site in terms of this undertaking

The purpose of a religious web site in terms of this agreement is
  
1.1 to build and strengthen the faith of believers in the teachings and practice of their own religious community:

1.2 by informing and educating, to open people to the appreciation of faith experiences and viewpoints other than their own, so as to help them live and work harmoniously with other believers in our country for their own collective good and for the common good of society;

1.3  to assist in establishing a spiritual foundation for public and private morality so as to raise the moral level of South African society;

1.4  to contribute to the spiritual and moral development of all age groups, especially children and young people
  
2. NORMS

2.1 A religious community has the right to communicate its message fully and integrally, but this shall be done in a way that does not misrepresent, is not derogatory of, or offensive to, other religious groups

2.2  In the case of a lack of sensitivity leading to legitimate offence, the offended party shall receive an appropriate apology and be given an opportunity on the same web site to make an adequate response.

2.3  No web site shall promote unfair discrimination on the basis of gender, race, culture, or belief.

2.4  A religious web site shall not be misused for political party propaganda.

2.5 No material shall be incorporated which could injure the spiritual or moral well-being of children.
  
3. ADJUDICATION

3.1  In the case of complaints against any religious community in terms of the above Norms and in the case of any conflict between religious communities, the IFRB acting through its Executive shall be the agent responsible for judging the case itself or for providing an alternative mechanism if the matter goes beyond the competence of the members of the IFRB Executive.

3.2 The decisions of the IFRB in such instances shall be binding.
