The IFRB's aims are to promote: - programmes of worship, teaching or pastoral care for the adherents of the various religions present in South Africa;
- educational programming to assist the South African public to understand the religious communities present in the country;
- the presentation of the view point of religious communities on moral and ethical matters or issues of current concern which may be presented or debated in the media;
- an awareness of the need for religious broadcasting;
- 'watchdog' responsibility on behalf of the religious communities in matters of religious broadcasting;
- the lobbying of government and broadcasting authorities for the maintenance of religious broadcasting and work for high standards within it;
- the facilitating of training for religious broadcasters.
